Pro Rosia Montana NGO was founded in 2000, due to the massive dismissal of the employees from the mining state company Rosia Min. The vision, goals and objectives of Pro Rosia Montana NGO were shaped through a strategic planning process in 2000. Pro Rosia Montana NGO was originally conceived as an ‘open door ‘ to meet the information and communication and sharing needs of local community, groups and community-based organizations that are keen to undertake sustainable development initiatives. The main goal of our NGO is supporting the development of the Rosia Montana Mining Project in order to have jobs for the locals, cutting the lay-off and providing care for the elders and poor people from Rosia Montana.
We have 475 subscription members (people who are living in Rosia Montana) and over 1700 upholders from the impacted area of the Rosia Montana Project. Pro Rosia Montana members are fighting for a clean environment, reduction of the pollution, exploiting gold and silver using high-technology; restart the mining activity and social and economic development for the community. We are struggling to raise standards of living and quality of life in Rosia Montana.
